June 25th  to July 7th 2010 fish report.

Ed Duitsman, Holly Duitsman, Cory Duitsman, Bob Selby, Dave Turner
and the new guy to Baja, Carl Delzell.

Had lots of work to do on the new house "Casa Dorado". Started on the 2nd floor.
Carl stepped up as gourmet chef only after 2 days of Ed's sardine sandwiches.
The water temp while we were there dropped from 85 to 74 due to the hurricanes in the gulf.
The yellowtail were there and big. 25 to 35lbs landed, to many to count lost big fish on 40lb and 50lb line.
Dave alone in 2 days lost 10 big ones.
Still early and cold for the dorado, but Carl got one on our last day.
The jumping Manta rays always a good show.

Friday April 9th
2010 lots of Bass south side of San Marcos Isla but couldn’t find the yellowtail any where around the Island.

Saturday 10th
we went to Isla Tortuga off the North lighthouse. It was fantastic action. We had our Mexican limits of 15 by noon. Good quality, nothing under 20lbs. Dad's big one got away, 100lb grouper?

Sunday 11th
Just Dave Turner and Ed Duitsman went back to Tortuga. More Yellowtail action, 8 big ones by noon. We were up close to the north lighthouse again in 70 to 100 feet of water. Then we decided to have some fun with barracuda on the way back. Dave has a great way to smoke them if you get them on ice and cleaned fast enough. lots of dolphin and the squid are just starting to arrive. Spent a few more days working on the house, looking better every trip. Roads are good, scenery beautiful and no trouble at all.

Hurricane Jimena hit Santa Rosalia, San Lucas, San Bruno and Mulege hard the first week of Sept so we didn't know what to expect.

We delivered 21 hand made quilts and funds from Orphan Grain Train. Friends donated soap, shampoo, food, fresh fish, shoes, clothes, lumber, nails and roofing materials. Thanks to many who gave, especially Concordia Lutheran in Barstow, Ira Gwin, Duitsman family, Walt and Linda Lamora, and Lutheran World relief. Our biggest project was the repair of the roofs on the buildings at the La Roca Rehab Center in Santa Rosalia. The pastor in charge was deeply gratefull.

We did get our boat "DAYCARE" launched in San Lucas Cove because the marina and ramp in Santa Rosalia were destroyed. The harbor and marina are filled with mud, rocks, refridgerators, cars and other trash.

Fishing was great as usual in this area. Water temp 83 to 86F. Ben caught his first Sailfish, we video taped the whole fight , sorry no pics can't do both and release it alive.
